Is kayaking safe?
Our sit-on-top style kayaks are perfectly safe for all ages and ability levels. They are made of soft, flexible plastic that does not cause bumps or bruises. The kayaks are very stable, but tipping over is fun – you simply tumble out into the warm water.
How long can I stay out with my kayak?
You can paddle all day, but you must be ready to depart from Shell Island on the final Shuttle run of the day. Be sure to check the daily schedule when you pick up your tickets.
Can I kayak around Shell Island?
Kayaking in the shallow waters around the Shell Island Jetty is very safe and easy. It is also fun to explore the island’s shallow inland shoreline on St. Andrew Bay. Experienced kayakers may want to paddle around the Jetty to the Gulf Shoreline if wind and water conditions allow. Flotation devices or close adult supervision are always recommended for small children.
